Organizacja indonezyjska określa pierwszy dzień ramadanu na podstawie obliczeń astronomicznych

15:32 - 23 lutego 2021

Muhammadiyah to główna islamska organizacja pozarządowa w Indonezji.

Hon. Hujjatul-Islam Mr. Akhtari
Secretary General of the Ahlulbayt World Assembly

Salam alaikum
Formulation of prayer timetables in European countries, especially those which are close to North Pole, has ever faced with problems; therefore, based on different observations and calculations, various prayer timetables have been produced by Shiite centers and mosques in such countries.

In order to reach a unified determination, a number of scientific delegations from the Institute of Geophysics, University of Tehran, were dispatched to the abovementioned areas. The results of accurate investigations are as follows:

1- In areas where natural fajr (normal dawn or daybreak) exists (that is, darkness exists even for a short period of time), the time for FAJR will be when the distance of
the sun from the horizon circle reaches 17.7.

2- However, in areas where natural fajr does not exist (that is, it never gets dark completely, which is called
White Nights), FAJR TIME will be determined as follows:

a. According to Fatwa (religious decree or judgment) of some of Shiite Grand Ayatollahs including Ayatollah Khameni, in such areas, the maximum intensity of light must be taken into consideration as a criterion.

b. According to the astronomical observations of the abovementioned delegations, the time for IMSAK (abstaining from eating to start fasting, for example in Holy Ramadan) will be astronomical MIDNIGHT (that is, 12 hours after noon prayer time); and, 30 minutes after that will be the time for FAJR PRAYER.

So it would be appropriate to adjust all prayer timetables of Shiite centers in London and other European countries (whether in south or north of Europe up to the North Pole) based on the abovementioned observations only.

Head of Department for International Affairs
Office of Ayatollah Khamenei
